| I watched this film twice and I can watch it again and again. There was a time for me when I could not stand the phrase “Not everyone’s movies”. It made me feel inferior, lacking intelligence or an eye for art. Then I decided I do not have to feel that way and I have not ever since. I simply came up with my own system of rating films. First thing that I decide (usually upon completing watching a movie), do I like it or not? Then I try to figure out why. Then I always ask myself, whether I would watch it again. That is the best part. If I can stand the idea of watching the film again, then it must be good. I think this film should be watched, if only to make people think. I did think a lot about “The Piano Teacher” and heroine. And my conclusion is that what happened at the end of the film is a good thing for her, she did suffer in her life but she could not break free. I liken it to joint displacement – it hurts, but to put it back and get rid of the pain it requires more acute pain. I think everyone can watch this film and it will be especially good for people who refuse to think, because “The Piano Teacher” has the power to awaken people from slumber and repeating ready opinions. | |
