Quotes. August 20, 2009.
It is not necessary that you leave the house. Remain at your table and listen. Do not even listen, only wait. Do not even wait, be wholly still and alone. The world will present itself to you for its unmasking, it can do no other, in ecstasy it will writhe at your feet.
The ability to sit still and see the world writhing at your feet depends on your life experiences. If you are lucky enough to live your life to the fullest and you are lucky enough to have the energy to leave the house whenever you want that is one story. My story is different. I am not so much a prisoner of my house; I am a prisoner of my mind. My whole life was put on hold by my moods and the “exploration process”. Everything that happens I can only judge post factum. I did not get on this rollercoaster willingly. It happened to me. But I cannot jump off; I have been fastened to it by the outside force. There is no release, but only going forward, hoping for the better.
I was watching a couple of movies and then reading some reviews. For the film “I Heart Huckabees”, the reviews are mostly unfavourable. Sometimes downright thrashing. I liked the film. It gave me pleasure, for a long time I couldn’t concentrate on anything. Forget reading. Forget watching movies. Anything that required concentration was too much of an effort. And I thought, these critics do not realize how lucky they are. To be able to see. To be able to write. I remembered a blind person I met in a psychiatric ward. I bet he would not be so critical. I do not want to say, of course, that I was and I am very different from others. We do not learn to appreciate what we have until we lose it. My stability is gone and so is my ability to secure employment right now (that is what I need now, as of yesterday!) So we live in different universes. They do have jobs. They can write and “drown” filmmakers. I think critics should be thankful for anything that gives them an opportunity to write. Maybe appreciation would change their vision a little. Maybe misery will allow them to identify more with characters in a film. Maybe not.
