Oh my dear maple
Sergei Yesenin (4 Oct. 1895 – 27 Dec. 1925)

Oh my dear maple, frozen stiff and bare,
Why do you stand bending in the blizzard there?
Have you seen a vision? Have you heard a babble?
Just like you are out for an idle ramble.

“…Or, perchance, my heart is dreaming?…”

Sergei Yesenin (4 Oct. 1985 – 27 Dec. 1925)

Silver bluebell, are you singing,

По луне гадая о судьбе,
Успокойся, смертный, и не требуй
Правды той, что не нужна тебе.
Хорошо в [...]

Sergei Yesenin (4 Oct. 1895 – 27 Dec. 1925)

To be a poet – is the same

You scar your own tender flesh,
And with the blood of feelings
Caress the souls of others.
To be a poet – to sing freedom,
As you know it best
The song of nightingale doesn’t hurt him -
His song is [...]

Tears

Sergei Yesenin (4 Oct. 1895 – 27 Dec. 1925)
Tears
Tears… again these bitter tears,
For broken dreams that flew far away,
For dreaded sadness that nothing cheers,
For new darkness, that nothing keeps at bay.
What is to come? More such torment?
No, it’s enough… It is time to rest, let go,
And to forget the sounds of lament,
A heart is full [...]
